Have a great Christmas everyone

So 2012 is almost over, my cameras are packed away till next year and most of my Christmas shopping is done.

It’s been a funny sort of year what with me taking the hard decision to close the studio in October but one that had to be taken. Also looking forward to getting back to photographing Weddings come 2013.

Ive worked with a lot of new people this year and quite a few old friends, I want to thank everyone who has  taken the time to comment, like or even not like my work on all of the social networks and websites I contribute to. It means a lot to see so many nice things said, you all know who you are and would take me for ever to thank you all.

Im very lucky to do something I really enjoy doing and although im not world famous and making loads of money, that’s not what its all about for me. For me its about being happy with the work I produce not just for myself but for the people involved. Ive been published again all over due to my stock work this year and also been lucky enough to have been published in a number of top Photography Magazines.

Again I want to thank everyone who Ive worked with and who have bothered to comment (no matter what) on my work. Hope you all have a great Christmas and wishing you all the very best for 2013.

If you have a wish for 2013 please leave a comment on this blog (lots of you read these, I know that much, but not many of you leave a comment. So here’s your chance)

From Port sunlight to the Pier Head with a VW Camper called “Dorothy”

Well what can I say about this shoot, one of the most stressful yet enjoyable shoots of 2012. The plans were all in place with both models Mark Cunningham and Brooke Baday (our bride and groom for the day) . The fantastic Donna O’Connor was our makeup artist and Mr Ian Gilles from Perfect Day Classic car hire had “Dorothy”  a 1958 classic VW camper van, Adam and I were on our way to Port sunlight Village where we has planned to shoot.

Things soon changed as we drove into the village only to find all the roads closed and quite a lot of security milling around. I could also see lots of photographic gear being lugged around by quite a few assistants (I did thin ohhhhh nice all this for little old me!!). Soon I was talking to the photographer and found out that they were there doing a big fashion shoot and you needed permission to shoot in Port sunlight Village anyway and it had taken them about a month to get this !. So much for all the weeks of planning Donna, Ian Brooke, Mark and I had done!

After a few phone calls and a good brain workout we decided to all meet at the Pier Head in Liverpool and do our shoot there, as it was a Sunday we all knew it wouldn’t be that busy there. So after a quick dash through the tunnel me and Adam started getting the gear ready for our shoot as we waited for Donna to put the final touches to Brookes hair and makeup at Brookes house just down the road.
I must say a massive thanks to Brooke here our female model, because The day before the shoot her mum was taken into hospital but once Brooke had made sure her mum was being well looked after and was settled she carried on with the shoot, So thanks Brooke for that you’re a true professional. Another big thanks to Nikki Grue for the loan of the beautiful wedding dress for the day and also a big thanks to Michael Kavanaghfor the loan of Marks suit for the day.
All I can say is that the day went very very well after the start we had and that all down to great team work and the will to make things happen. Here are some images from the day. Gear used Nikon D3s, Nikon 70~200 f2.8 VRII, Nikon 24~70 f2.8,  Lencarta Safari 600w lighting.

Gigging at the Studio Widnes

Well what a night Saturday was, again I had the pleasure of covering an event for The Lewis edge “Brightest star Foundation”  and again a type of photography I love doing but don’t get to do it that often.

This was a music gig at the Studio in Widnes (used to be part of the old Queens Hall) showcasing some very talented young artists from the area and I must say was much better than staying in and watching some of the “so called” talent on X Factor.

He’s a list of the acts involved and if any bands or artists want a photographer to cover any gigs locally please do get in touch it’s a type of photography I really love doing.

Gemma and Phill Wedding

What can I say, I was lucky enough to second shoot at another great Wedding with Andrea Ellison last month and really enjoyed the day. But then again who wouldn’t , Andrea asked me to do the groom and best man shots before the wedding service while she did the Bride getting ready first. So it was off to the Helter Skelter pub first thing to meet up with the Groom Phill .

Think if Andrea had known it was to be Tea Coffee and bacon butties at the pub first she may have had me taking the images of the Bride getting ready !

Once finished at the Helter Skelter  it was off to Manley Mere for the Wedding service, another great location and venue to hold a wedding. The groom arriving in a beautiful vintage green VW beetle and the Bride in a green VW campervan.

This was followed by a wedding meal and evening at the Jam Farm in Manley near Frodsham (well worth a visit by the way) The wedding tables all set up in the barn with a very retro feel to the whole day. Thank you Gemma and Phill.

Here’s a few images from a lovely day.

Now time for a Chill out :-)

Breakfast at “Warren Millar Photography”

Here’s a little blog about a great shoot I recently did in the studio with the beautiful model Sophia Hussain from Bradford and the very talented MUA Michelle Cannon.

We decided on a “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” theme for this studio shoot and once the lighting was sorted and Sophia had her makeup done we soon got into the swing of things and using a few props I had managed to get (ohhh big thanks to Paul for the cigarette holder) I think we got the mood and theme just right.

Just a little info all the images were shot on a Nikon D3s using mostly my 70-200 f2.8 VRII and a few on my 22-70 f2.8.
